How to wire the switches inside the distribution box

To wire switches in a distribution box, connect the main supply to the main MCB, then route power through the RCCB to individual MCBs for each load, ensuring proper neutral and earth connections.

Step-by-

Step Wiring Process1. Safety First Always turn off the main power supply before starting any wiring work to prevent electric shock. Verify with a multimeter that no voltage is present.

2. Mount the Distribution Box Secure the distribution box at an accessible height on a wall, ensuring it is free from obstructions and moisture. 3.

Connect the Main Supply

Connect the phase (live) and neutral wires from the incoming power supply to the input terminals of the main double-pole MCB.

This MC

B acts as the main switch and protects the entire system. 4.

Install the RCC

B (Residual Current Circuit Breaker)Connect the output of the main MCB to the input of the RCCB.

The RCC

B protects against electric shocks by detecting leakage currents. 5. Connect Individual Load MCBsFor single-pole MCBs (used for standard loads), connect only the phase wire from the RCCB output to the MCB input.

For double-pole MCBs (used for special loads), connect both phase and neutral wires from the RCCB output to the MCB input. Connect the neutral wire from the RCCB output to the neutral bus bar in the distribution box. Connect the earth wire from the supply or earth pit to the earth bus bar.

6.

Connect Load Wires

For single-pole MCBs: connect the phase wire of the load to the MCB output, and the neutral and earth wires to their respective bus bars. For double-pole MCBs: connect both phase and neutral wires of the load to the MCB output, and the earth wire to the earth bus bar. 7.

Label and Test

Clearly label each MCB according to the load it controls. Use a multimeter to check for correct voltage and ensure there are no short circuits before switching on the main power. 8.

Final Safety Check

Ensure all connections are tight and insulated. Verify that the distribution box is properly grounded and that all protective devices are functional. Following this method ensures that all switches and protective devices are correctly wired, providing safe and reliable power distribution to your home or office circuits.
