How to obtain the light module

Light Modules, also known as Upgrade Modules, can be obtained from vendors, campaign rewards, Season Pass progression, and special in-game activities to increase the Power Level of your gear.

Vendor Purchases

The most straightforward way to get Upgrade Modules is by purchasing them from Banshee-44 (Gunsmith) or Ada-1 (Armor Synthesizer) in the Tower. Each module costs 1 Enhancement Core, 10 Legendary Shards, 5,000 Glimmer, and 25 of a Planetary Material, which rotates daily. If you lack materials, Spider at the Reef can exchange or sell some of the required planetary materials.

Boosting your Gunsmith rank also rewards Upgrade Modules, with four modules granted per rank increase.

Campaign Rewards

Completing the Witch Queen campaign is one of the best sources of Upgrade Modules. On Legendary difficulty, the number of reward chests doubles, providing more modules. Each character can only earn these modules on their first completion, but alternate characters can also collect them.

Season Pass Rewards

Owning the Season Pass allows you to earn Upgrade Modules as you level up. By reaching certain rank milestones, you can acquire up to 31 Upgrade Modules per season, making this a reliable source for consistent module acquisition.

Concentrated Mattergems: Buffs that increase the chance of Upgrade Module drops when defeating enemies, though the buff is removed once a module drops. Ghost Shell Modularity Mods: Equipping a Ghost Shell with this mod increases the likelihood of modules dropping during Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit activities. Dismantling Weapons and Completing Bounties: These actions can increase your Gunsmith rank, indirectly granting Upgrade Modules as rewards.
