Taiwan Fiberglass Cable Tray Construction

Fiberglass cable trays in Taiwan are typically made from pultruded FRP with polyester or vinylester resin, offering corrosion resistance, high strength, and customizable dimensions for industrial and power applications.

Material and Construction

Taiwanese fiberglass cable trays are composite structural members reinforced with glass fiber and bound with epoxy, polyester, or vinylester resin, produced via the pultrusion process for consistent cross-sectional accuracy and mechanical stability. They are non-conductive, non-magnetic, and corrosion-resistant, making them suitable for harsh environments such as chemical plants, coastal areas, and offshore installations. Surface treatments can include flame-retardant, UV-resistant, or anti-slip coatings to meet specific environmental requirements.

Dimensions and Profiles

Widths: Commonly 100mm, 150mm, 200mm, 300mm, 400mm, 500mm, 600mm, and 800mm, with smaller widths for light cables and larger widths for heavy or multiple conduits. Heights: Typically 50mm, 60mm, 75mm, 100mm, 150mm, and 200mm, selected based on load requirements. Lengths: Customizable, generally ranging from 3000mm to 6000mm per section.

Thicknesses: 0. 8mm to 3. 0mm depending on structural needs.

Profiles: Ladder-type, tray-type, or trough-type; flange-in and flange-out siderail designs are available for space optimization. Low-profile options (Type LC) are suitable for control wiring and lighter cable runs.

Load Capacity and Standards

Fiberglass trays provide load capacities comparable to steel while being significantly lighter (approximately one-third the weight of steel trays), facilitating easier installation and reduced transportation costs. They meet NEMA FG 1 safety factor requirements with a 1. 5 safety factor and comply with ASTM E-84 Class 1 flame rating and ASTM D-635 self-extinguishing standards.

Resin Options and Colors

Polyester resin: Standard gray color, suitable for general industrial use. Vinylester resin: Beige color, offering higher chemical resistance; custom colors available on request.

Applications

Fiberglass cable trays are widely used in industrial, chemical, petrochemical, power plants, substations, and offshore environments due to their durability, corrosion resistance, and electrical insulation properties. They are ideal for long-span installations, adverse environmental conditions, and areas requiring radio wave transparency.

Customization and Accessories

Solid bottom trays for additional protection. Fiberglass struts can replace alternating rungs for enhanced support. Pre-drilled sections for splice plate fasteners simplify installation.

Overall, Taiwan fiberglass cable trays combine lightweight construction, high strength, corrosion resistance, and flexible design options, making them suitable for a wide range of industrial and infrastructure projects.
