How to wire the lighthouse distribution box

Wiring the Main Power

Crimp wire terminations on the incoming power supply lines and attach them to the busbars using the provided silicone bronze flat washer, Bellville washer, and nut. Clearly mark the AC, DC, or different voltage levels of the power supply inside the distribution box.

Branch Circuit Connections

Connect each branch circuit to its respective circuit breaker. The wiring from the main breaker to branch breakers typically runs on the left side, while wiring exiting the distribution box runs on the right side. Use parallel connections if needed to simplify wiring and reduce congestion.

Secure all wires neatly with plastic ties, ensuring uniform spacing and straight routing.

Additional Components

Ensure proper grounding of the pedestal and all circuits. Include protection devices such as breakers, fuses, and surge protectors for each circuit. If the pedestal includes water, phone, or cable TV connections, route these utilities through the designated access panels.

Inspection and Testing

After wiring, perform a visual inspection and use a multimeter to check for short circuits, correct voltage, and proper breaker operation. Schedule regular maintenance to inspect busbars, tighten connections, and check for corrosion, especially in marine environments.

Best Practices

Install the pedestal in a dry, accessible area with good ventilation, typically around 1. 5 meters above the ground. Use UL/CE-certified components and maintain a record of installation details for future inspections.

Label all circuits clearly and consider modular designs for easier future upgrades. By following these steps, a Lighthouse distribution box can be safely and efficiently wired, ensuring reliable power distribution and long-term durability.
