Data Center AOC

Active Optical Cables (AOC) are fiber-optic cables with integrated transceivers that enable high-speed, long-distance, and low-latency data transmission in modern data centers. What Are AOCs? An Active Optical Cable (AOC) is a fiber optic cable with built-in transceivers at both ends.

These transceivers convert electrical signals from devices like servers or switches into optical signals for transmission and then back into electrical signals at the receiving end. This design allows AOCs to maintain signal integrity over longer distances compared to traditional copper cables. Advantages of AOCsHigh Bandwidth and Speed: AOCs support data rates from 10 Gbps up to 100G, 400G, or higher, making them suitable for high-performance computing and large-scale data center applications.

Longer Reach: Unlike DAC cables, which are ideal for short distances (typically under 3 meters), AOCs can transmit data reliably over distances up to 100 meters or more, depending on the cable and transceiver type.

EM

I Immunity: Fiber optics are immune to electromagnetic interference, ensuring stable performance in high-EMI environments. Compact and Flexible: AOCs are thinner and more flexible than copper cables, which helps improve airflow and cable management in dense server racks. Low Power Consumption: AOCs consume less power and generate less heat than equivalent copper solutions, reducing energy costs and prolonging equipment lifespan.
